Haripriya is the stage name of actress Shruthi. She is an actress and model who is popular in the south Indian film industry. She is a trained Bharatanatyam dancer too. Her family presently lives in Bangalore, but they are originally from Chikkaballapur, in Karnataka state.
Haripriya finished her schooling from Chikkaballapur and the pre-university from the city of Bangalore. While studying in 12th, she used to participate in many cultural events.
It was during one such event, the pictures that were taken got the attention of Mr. Richard Castelino. Luckily for her, he was a director and he loved her pictures too. Haripriya A.K.A Shruthi got her first break in the form of a female lead role in a regional language film. The film was a ‘Tulu’ film called ‘Badi’.
In 2008, she got a bigger break in the form of a Kannada film named ‘Manasugula Mathu Madhura’. Later she was also named for the best Kannada actress award in Filmfare for her performance in the Kannada movie ‘Kallara Santhe’.
Arguably her biggest and the most popular film till date is Ugramm. This is a Kannada action thriller film which was released in 2014 which later went on to become a blockbuster.
Haripriya played the lead in this film opposite Srimurali. This film was also remade in many other languages. Haripriya was nominated once again for the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in Kannada. Sadly she didn’t win this.
Finally, she got an award for her acting talent in the form of Bollywood Life Award for Best South Actress for the First Quater of 2019. This was for her movie Bell Bottom.
Bell Bottom is a popular Kannada movie, which was acclaimed by critics. This Haripriya movie too became a commercial success. Haripriya played the role of Kusuma in the film Bell Bottom against Rishabh Shetty. This is a Kannada comedy thriller film which also features Achyut Kumar and Yogiraj Bhat.
Haripriya Movie List and Film Career
Haripriya’s debut film was Badi, a Tulu language film released in 2007 and directed by Richard Castelino, where she played the role of Priya.
Manasugula Mathu Madhura, the first Kannada movie acted by Haripriya where she played the role of Amaravathi. This movie was directed by Manju Maskallatti and was released in the year 2008.
The same year, one other film acted by her was released. The movie was Vasanthakala directed by Vaddanahalli Srinivas. In 2009 she acted in Ee Sambhashane, directed by Rajashekhar and Male Barali Manju Irali, directed by Vijayalakshmi Singh.
Male Barali Manju Irali was a movie inspired by the American comedy-drama film Sabrina, starring Harrison Ford, Julia Ormond, and Greg Kinnear. In the same year (2009) Haripriya’s movie Kallara Santhe was released where her role as Roopa was nominated for Filmfare award for best actress for Kannada cinema.
